Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) may be applied when required by the drawing, material specification, qualification plan, customer requirements, or service conditions. HIP can reduce internal microporosity and increase density, but it does not create a universal zero-defect condition or make cast and forged material interchangeable. Final fatigue and structural performance remain dependent on material condition, casting quality, heat treatment, geometry, surface condition, defects, inspection acceptance criteria, and service environment.
